Growing up on a farm in Northeastern Montana, I had constant exposure to horses. Twice a year, we actually moved cattle to different pastures and to do this we used our horses. At the age of 12, I started my first filly (Tess) under saddle and it wasn’t long before I became obsessed with horse training, showing, and adventuring.
I attended William Woods University on an equestrian scholarship where I learned the art of Dressage training, my main passion. Dressage gave me the skills to athletically develop horses and understand their physical needs. Here, I was able to ride with world-class riders, judges and trainers.
Along the way, my path took me to naturopathic medical school in Portland, OR. During this time, I taught riding lessons and worked in the field of therapeutic riding while I obtained my training as a primary care doctor.
Currently I work as a Naturopathic Doctor* in Austin, Texas and have founded North Star Equestrian Center, an affiliate of North Star Healing Center. It is my goal to provide a safe, enriched, and encouraging environment for people to learn the art of horse training.
*Naturopathic Doctors are not currently licensed in Texas. My license is in California, where I practice primary care medicine. We are trying to get Texas currently licensed - visit www.TXAND.ORG to learn more about Naturopathic Medicine
